Job Description
### Org. Setting and Reporting
The Subprogramme is mandated to mobilize and coordinate international support and resources for the effective implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries, enhance its monitoring and follow-up and raise awareness and advocate with respect to the special needs of least developed countries. The position is located in the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), in Subprogramme 1 of the Office. The incumbent reports to the Senior Economic Affairs Officer, Subprogramme 1, under the overall guidance of the Director.
### Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Associate Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: • Works with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions. • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc., to include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources. • Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies. Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. • Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc. • Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Participates in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Performs other duties as required.

### Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in business administration, international relations, law, management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the Young Professional Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

### Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required. Experience working with international organizations as well as intergovernmental processes is desirable. Experience working on sustainable development issues related to the least developed ountries is desirable. Experience working on the key deliverables of the Doha Programme of Action on the Least Developed Countries, namely food stockholding, resilience building, international investment support, sustainable graduation, and online university/higher education access on STEM, is desirable.
