| Job Description - Technical Officer (2604217) Technical Officer-(2604217)Grade:P3Contractual Arrangement:Temporary appointment under Staff Rule 420.4Contract Duration (Years, Months, Days):1 year (Subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need for the position)## Job Posting:Sep 29, 2026, 3:06:52 AM## Closing Date:Oct 19, 2026, 5:59:00 PM## Primary Location:Egypt-Cairo## Organization:EM/RDO Office of The Regional Director## Schedule:Full-timeIMPORTANT NOTICE:Please note that the deadline for receipt of applications indicated above reflects your personal device's system settings.## OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMEThe Regional Director's Office (RDO) supports the Regional Directorin the efficient delivery of their mandate and in the provision of effectiveleadership and coordination of the work of WHO in the Eastern MediterraneanRegion, including partnerships and collaboration with countries, the UN system,international organizations, bilateral and multilateral agencies and otherstakeholders.## DESCRIPTION OF DUTIESCoordinate and facilitate improved information and knowledge management within the team to ensure monitoring and evaluation, organizational learning, and reporting, with a particular responsibility for maintaining andimproving the activities databases/lessons learnt log.Accompany the Regional Director to meetingsand missions, when necessary, prepare meeting minutes, track progress on agreedissues, and follow-up with focal points on actions taken. Facilitate the Regional Director's public engagements and travel to countries of the Region, including collaborating withtechnical departments to prepare talking points and background documents,updating the Regional Director's calendar, liaising with organizers to obtainall relevant materials.Coordinate the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office's preparations for UN and WHO governing body meetings,including the Regional Committee Meeting, the World Health Assembly and the United Nations General Assembly, in close collaboration with other relevant units. 5. Contribute to the management and maintenance of the Regional Director's schedule, correspondence and missions, with support of the Regional Director's Office.6. Participate actively in key technical and policy meetings to support WHO EMRO's work with Member States. 7. Prepare briefings for the RDO on important programmatic, procedural and protocol issues for the region.8. Draft reports, briefing notes,meeting summaries and other technical products to ensure proper reporting andfollow-up after meetings,and international or country missions by WHO, other partners, experts.9. Generate routine statistical andanalytical reports as required, based on the existing databases. 10. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Regional Director## REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS### EducationEssential: First university degree in business management, social sciences, Public health or related field.Desirable: Advanced degree or training in relevant field including project management or public administration.### ExperienceEssential: At least five years' experience in technical work with international exposure in WHO, the UN System, a governmental or non-governmental organization. proven experience in planning and managing appropriate communications related to technical activities, high-level meetings, and missions.Desirable: Working experience in an international or UN organization.### SkillsAbilityto work effectively with colleagues at national and international levels. Excellent skills in drafting and writingpolicies and reports. Excellent organizational, planning, project management and negotiation skills. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 71,335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1718 per month for the duty station indicated above.
