Gender equality Host entity:UNWomen IND Volunteer category:Associate UCoS from Apr2026 Work schedule:Full-time Number of Assignments:1 Mission and objectives: - UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women supports Member States in developing and implementing laws, policies, programmes and services that advance women's rights and gender equality. In Madhya Pradesh, UN Women works with state government departments, local governments, academic institutions, civil society organizations and development partners to strengthen gender-responsive governance, women's safety, economic empowerment, gender-responsive disaster risk reduction, and the localization and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The assignment will contribute to evidence-based policy making and monitoring of SDG progress through gender-responsive budgeting and data-driven programming. - The Government of Madhya Pradesh is strengthening its efforts to integrate SDG monitoring into planning, budgeting and programme implementation. UN Women is supporting the development of gender-responsive SDG tracking systems, including the alignment of Gender Budget Statements with SDG indicators, departmental monitoring frameworks, and evidence-based reporting on gender equality outcomes. - To support this work, UN Women seeks a National UN Associate Volunteer who will contribute to data collection, analysis, visualization and report preparation related to gender-responsive budgeting, SDG monitoring, women's empowerment and inclusion. The volunteer will assist in compiling and analysing data from government Management Information Systems (MIS), national surveys, administrative datasets and programme reports, and support the preparation of policy briefs, knowledge products, presentations and reports for state government stakeholders and development partners. - The assignment provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in public policy, data analytics, gender equality programming, SDG localization and results-based management while contributing to the achievement of Agenda 2030 in Madhya Pradesh. - Under the direct supervision of Policy Specialist (State Lead, Madhya Pradesh), the UN Associate Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - • Support the collection, compilation and validation of SDG-related datasets from government departments and publicly available databases. - • Assist in analysing data related to SDGs with a particular focus on SDG 5 and gender-responsive indicators across 17 SDGs. - • Support the preparation of statistical tables, trend analyses, dashboards and data visualizations. - • Support maintenance of databases and tracking systems. - • Support quality assurance and consistency checks for data and reports. - B: Research and Evidence Generation - • Assist in conducting literature reviews, policy reviews and background research related - • Support the compilation of best practices, case studies and evidence from national and international experiences. - • Contribute to the preparation of analytical briefs and policy notes. - C: Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation - • Assist in developing results frameworks, indicator tracking matrices and monitoring tools. - • Support documentation of programme achievements, lessons learned and impact stories. - • Contribute to drafting presentations, briefing notes and meeting summaries. - D: Stakeholder Coordination - • Assist in coordinating data requests and follow-up with government departments, academic institutions and implementing partners. - • Support the organization of consultations, workshops and review meetings related to SDG monitoring and gender-responsive governance. - • Participate in meetings and document key discussions and action points. - Candidate must be a national, legal resident or hold refugee status in the country of assignment. Additional eligibility criteria: - This assignment is funded by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and therefore only students currently enrolled at KIIT University are eligible to apply. - Students from Scheduled Tribes communities are especially encouraged to apply.
