The State of Palestine is one of UNICEF's most complex operating environments, encompassing humanitarian response, recovery, resilience, and development programming across Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The Child Protection Officer (Justice for Children) (NO-2) is based in the State of Palestine Country Office and reports to the Child Protection Specialist (NO-3) for guidance and general supervision. You will provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results. You will  prepare, execute, manage, and implement a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting. In particular, you will contribute substantively to the Child Protection section’s implementation of Justice for Children (J4C) interventions in the State of Palestine, in line with Output 4.2 of UNICEF’s Area Programme Document (APD), Rolling Workplan (RWP) with the Ministry of Social Development, and UNICEF interventions under the “SAWASYA” multi-agency Rule of Law programme. You will also support implementation of Child Protection humanitarian response and Early Recovery programming related to Justice for Children and legal services. You will provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes, including for early recovery. You will facilitate the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harm, and to protect their rights to survival, development and well-being as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/frameworks and UN intergovernmental bodies. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building If you would like to know more about this position, please review the complete Job Description here:JD_Child Protection Officer Level 2.pdf To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Minimum requirements: - Education:A university degree in one of the following fields is required: law, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field. - Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required. - Skills:To be considered for this role, candidates are required to have expertise in child protection, programme management, partnership development, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and community engagement. - Language Requirements:Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Desirables: - Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language - An advanced university degree is an asset. - Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset. - Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization, in particular related to Justice for Children of Child Protection system strengthening, is considered as an asset. - Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage. - Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
