Fixed-term for two years (first year is probationary) with the
possibility of further extension, subject to satisfactory
performance.
US$ 56,046 net per annum, plus post adjustment (currently US$
44,612). Salary is free of income tax in the United Kingdom.
This position is located within the Entitlements and Information
Management (EIM) Section of the Human Resources Services (HRS). The
position helps ensure the effective and timely administration of
all aspects related to social security and support with the day to
day implementation of IMO Staff Regulations and Staff Rules (SRSR),
development of suitable policies and guidelines in EIM. The
position has a wide span of interventions and collaborations within
the Organization and externally with the United Nations Joint
Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) and external insurance
providers. The position supports Human Resources Services in
identifying areas of concern and opportunities for improvement,
with the objective of enhancing service efficiency and minimizing
reputational and financial risks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF)
and CIGNA medical insurance schemes.
- Maintain ongoing involvement in payroll processing and support
all related activities as required.
- Coordinate with external service providers and vendors
regarding insurance.
- Liaise with the UNJSPF and all relevant stakeholders, including
staff, to coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes and
related formalities, such as monthly file certification.
- Support the administration and coordination of disability
pension and work-related injury claims.
- Undertake research, assess best practises emerging workforce
and programme developments as well as UN common system initiatives
and propose improvements and alignments.
- Coordinate the link between World Maritime University (WMU) and
the UNJSPF and supervise the work of the relevant focal point.
- Support the development of new and revised Staff Regulations
and Rules, Administrative Directives, Information Circulars, and HR
procedures.
- Provide advice to staff on all matters within functional
area.
- Support the resolution of staff grievances at the initial stage
related to staff entitlements and benefits, maintaining accurate
documentation, including inputs for responses and formal
submissions.
- Participate in the annual system update testing processes and
relevant User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Perform other duties as assigned and provide coverage for
colleagues when required.

Professional Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in
the administration of staff social security benefits (e.g. pension
and health insurance) is required. Experience in other HR
administrative areas e.g. payroll administration, employee
relations, administration of justice etc.) is required. Work
experience in a multilateral/international organization, preferably
a UN common system would be an asset.
University degree in Human Resources Management, Public or
Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology or
related field is required.
Proficiency in English (written and oral) is required for the
position. Knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.
