## Technical Officer (Immunization), Aden, Yemen - Organization:WHO - World Health Organization - Office:WHO Aden, Yemen Technical Officer (Immunization) Contractual Arrangement : Temporary appointment under Staff Rule 420.4 Contract Duration (Years, Months, Days) : 1 year (subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need for the position) Job Posting: Sep 27, 2026, 9:19:51 AM The mission of WHO's Health Emergencies Programme is to help countries, and to coordinate international action, to prevent, prepare for, detect, rapidly respond to, and recover from outbreaks and emergencies. The objective of the immunization and vaccine development programme is to expand the scope of immunization, maximize the benefits of vaccines and immunization programmes, and accelerate control, and achieve and sustain elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases in Yemen DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES During deployment, the duty station may change, and duties may be modified, based upon the technical needs of the Programme. - Liaise with the national counterparts and stakeholders the development of the Expanded Programme on Immunization plan in Yemen and assist Member State to strengthen the evaluation and monitoring of immunization activities. - Liaise with the Ministry of Health counterparts or other health related interlocutors in the country the planning and organization of vaccination campaigns. - Monitor the implementation of planned activities and ensure the availability of potent vaccines as well as the required equipment and injection materials. - Compile and share the information on the impact of newly introduced vaccines in the national immunization schedule of the country and submit project proposals for the extension of existing health-care networks and strengthening of the existing systems. - Support research in vaccines, including the coordination of clinical trials of new vaccines of relevance to the country. - Participate in training and capacity building of national vaccinators in the area of Immunization and Vaccine. - Contribute to the development and dissemination of guidelines for evaluation of the impact of newly introduced vaccines in the national immunization schedule of the Member State. - Work with Member State to transition WHO-supported vaccine preventable disease surveillance sites/systems to government-supported institutions. - Perform all other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Essential: First level university degree in a Health-related science (medicine or public health) or human biology with specialization on immunization, or vaccine relevant areas. Desirable: Advanced university degree in a Health-related science. Essential: At least five years' of progressively international exposure in the field of immunization and vaccine development programmes. Within this experience demonstrated international exposure evaluating vaccine preventable diseases and immunization programmes. Desirable: Firsthand working experience in a developing nation. Sound knowledge of WHO's policies, practices, guidelines and procedures in the related areas and ability to apply them in the country office setting. Excellent knowledge of disease burden and surveillance for vaccine preventable diseases. Ability to review and revise policies and objectives of assignment programme and activities. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Excellent knowledge of health care systems and safety regulations. Proven knowledge of technical aspects in the field of specialty. Commitment to implementing the goal of gender equality by ensuring the equal participation and full involvement of women and men in all aspects of work. WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 71,335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1302 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
