## Human Rights Officer, NOC - Organization:United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) - Office:UNSOH in Port-au-Prince Org. Setting and Reporting:This position is located within the United Nations Support Office for Haiti (UNSOH), in the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy Unit (HRDDP Unit), in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Under the direct supervision of the Head of the HRDDP Unit, the incumbent leads assigned human rights activities, ensuring the implementation of UNSOH's mandate. Responsibilities:Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:Conducts substantive research and analysis of human rights issues and events and assesses their impact on the human rights situation in Haiti.Collects and analyzes human rights data and indicators in Haiti, including gender-specific data and indicators.Ensures that human rights issues, including their gender equality dimensions, are integrated into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts and programs.Defines work plans for the assigned area in accordance with established terms of reference.Supports the drafting of HRDDP risk assessments and the implementation of mitigation measures.Supports field verification work through periodic visits and follows up on various cases and situations.Represents the HRDDP Unit during working meetings.Supports human rights capacity-building efforts in Haiti.Drafts various reports, communications, briefing notes, statements, and other documents, including those intended for decision-making bodies.Trains and supervises newly recruited or less experienced staff members.Performs any other related duties as required. - Conducts substantive research and analysis of human rights issues and events and assesses their impact on the human rights situation in Haiti. - Collects and analyzes human rights data and indicators in Haiti, including gender-specific data and indicators. - Ensures that human rights issues, including their gender equality dimensions, are integrated into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts and programs. - Defines work plans for the assigned area in accordance with established terms of reference. - Supports the drafting of HRDDP risk assessments and the implementation of mitigation measures. - Supports field verification work through periodic visits and follows up on various cases and situations. - Represents the HRDDP Unit during working meetings. - Supports human rights capacity-building efforts in Haiti. - Drafts various reports, communications, briefing notes, statements, and other documents, including those intended for decision-making bodies. - Trains and supervises newly recruited or less experienced staff members. - Performs any other related duties as required. Ability to identify sources for data collection, research and analyze information and draft human rights reports. Ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources and assess impact on the human rights situation in the area of assignment. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. Education:Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Work Experience:A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area is required. A minimum of two year’s experience working in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping, political missions and UN agencies, funds, and programmes) – or similar international organisation or non-governmental organisation – in a conflict setting is required. A minimum of two years of experience representing communities or working with communities in the promotion and protection of human rights is required. A minimum of two years of experience in human rights protection work, including through engaging with military and police for the protection of civilians is required.
