## HR Intern - Talent Development - Organization:DMSPC - Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance - Office:Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance Office of Human Resources in Beijing Work Location:Beijing, In-person, Full time Expected duration:3 -6 months, start from 19 October 2026 Duties and Responsibilities:The United Nations Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance is responsible for policy leadership in all management areas through the provision of a clear, integrated global management strategy and policy framework and through strengthened monitoring, evaluation and accountability mechanisms. The intern is located in the Staffing Diversity and Outreach Section, Strategic Talent management Services, GSPD/Office of Human Resources within DMSPC, and will be stationed at the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Beijing, China. The intern reports to a Human Resources Officer. Depending on the intern's background and interests and the needs and ongoing activities of GSPD, an intern will gain hands-on experience in two or more of the following areas: A. Administrative and Technical Skills -Assist in designing, updating and/or maintaining internal records, databases, and SharePoint files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. -Use and/or effectively apply a variety of Office 365 apps, Power BI, or other software to prepare team presentations, reports, and communications. B. Communications and Graphic Design -Assist in the planning and dissemination of communication products. -Contribute to communication, knowledge-sharing, and outreach activities, including drafting written materials supporting online engagement, and maintaining web and social media content on internal and/or external platforms. -Design or edit visuals that align with United Nations branding guidelines. -Learn or further develop skills in using software to design, develop and/or edit visual products such as infographics, presentations, interactive visuals, and videos. C. Research and Data Analysis -Conduct research on HR-related policies, best practices, and data trends; and summarize key findings. -Collect and analyze data for internal reports and oversight reviews. -Develop visual solutions and reports based on multiple data sources to support decision-making. D. Talent Outreach Support -Help plan, coordinate and support briefings, community engagements, learning and knowledge-sharing events. -Support the partnership with the government, universities and professional associations on developing skills aligned with the work capabilities and prepare candidates for the Young Professional Programme (YPP) exam; -Help organize and conduct talent outreach events targeting university students and secondary schools in China to inspire young students for an UN career. E. Other Opportunities: -Perform other relevant duties as assigned. Qualifications/special skills:Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, educational background or exposure to human resources, psychology, education, public administration or related issues is desirable. Languages:English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
