### Job Description INTERN - CLIMATE POLICY AND FINANCE TheOrganization TheAllianceofBioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture(CIAT) delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversityand sustainably transform food systems to improve people’s lives. The Allianceis part ofCGIAR, a globalresearch partnership for a food-secure future. The Alliance solutions addressthe global crisis of malnutrition, climate change, biodiversity loss, andenvironmental degradation. Through its Climate Action work, the Alliancesupports governments and partners to strengthen climate policy, mobilize andeffectively deploy climate finance, develop climate-resilient investmentstrategies, and improve the evidence available for climate-related planning anddecision-making. The Climate Action Lever contributesto the implementation of the CGIAR Portfolio 2025–2030, particularly throughthe Climate Action Science Program, as well as bilateral and multi-countryprojects implemented in collaboration with national governments, regionalorganizations, development partners, research institutions, and otherstakeholders. A key area of work focuses onstrengthening the environment enabling climate action and finance inagriculture. This includes supporting climate and agricultural policyprocesses; costing and prioritizing climate actions; assessing climate risksand financing needs; strengthening climate finance readiness; developing investmentstrategies and pipelines; tracking climate finance and investmenteffectiveness; and building institutional capacities for accessing andeffectively utilizing climate finance. About the position The Alliance of BioversityInternational and CIAT is seeking a motivated Climate Policy and Finance Internto provide technical and analytical support to this portfolio of work. Theinternship will provide practical exposure to climate policy, climate financeand investments, data analysis, capacity development, and stakeholderengagement. Roles and Responsibilities The intern will: - Assist in the review,preparation, and analysis of climate, agriculture, and climate financepolicies, strategies, plans, and related technical documents. - Support the costing andeconomic assessment of strategic climate and agricultural priorities, includingestimation of investment requirements and financing gaps. - Provide analytical andtechnical inputs to policy development processes in collaboration with nationalgovernments, regional organizations, research institutions, and developmentpartners. - Assist in the design anddelivery of training sessions, workshops, and technical consultations withstakeholders - Collect, clean, organize,analyze, and synthesize global, regional, national, and subnational climaterelated data - Support the development offrameworks, tools, guidelines, and monitoring, learning and evaluationframeworks to execute climate finance project pipelines - Contribute to thepreparation of technical reports other knowledge products e.g. policy briefs,technical notes, presentations, and journal papers Requirements Qualificationsand Experience Bachelor's degree with specialization orequivalent, in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Climate Change, EnvironmentalEconomics, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Development Studies, NaturalResource Management, or another closely related discipline, master’s degreedesirable. DesirableSkills - Demonstratedinterest in climate change, climate policy, climate finance, agriculturaldevelopment, or sustainable investment. - Basic knowledge ofquantitative and/or qualitative research and data-analysis methods - Strong analytical,research, writing, and communication skills. - Ability tosynthesize technical information and communicate findings clearly. - Proficiency inMicrosoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - Ability to work independentlyand effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. Languages - English required Supervisionand Working Arrangements Theintern will work under the supervision of the designated Climate Action teamlead/supervisor and will collaborate closely with scientists, policyspecialists, economists, project teams, and other technical staff across theAlliance. Assignmentsmay involve collaboration with government ministries and agencies, CGIAR teams,regional organizations, development partners, financial institutions, researchorganizations, and other project stakeholders. Theinternship may include participation in technical meetings, stakeholderconsultations, workshops, training activities, and, where applicable, field orcountry missions. Terms ofemployment These are3 (ThreeNational recruited positions based inNairobi,Kenya.The initial contract will be6monthsrenewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
