Org. Setting and Reporting:UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. The Incumbent: 1.Supervisor: The Materiel Inspector is accountable and reports directly to Head Field Procurement Office 2.Supervisees: The incumbent of this post may supervise General Services or equivalent Area post staff
Responsibilities:The incumbent: 1.Goods Receipt and Inspection 1.1 Inspects all goods and supplies delivered to the Agency’s warehouses with respect to quality and quantity, compares specifications recorded in ERP system to the specifications in the shippers’ documents for accuracy. 1.2 Posts the inspection results and goods adjustments into the ERP system and certifies related invoices and shipping documents for payment. 1.3 Controls surpluses, obsolete or defective supplies; coordinates with procurement and port operations for further completion, replacement and / or insurance claims for any shortages or defective deliveries. 1.4 Prepares compliance reports and effectively supervises problem solving with suppliers and /or end users. 2 Stock checking: 2.1 Manages the quarterly stock take with all related implications and adjustments of any discrepancies, monitors stock expiration dates, and removes all surpluses and defective items from shelves. and checks medical supply and food product item batches. 2.2 Ensures safe stock levels, avoids excess supplies being kept, and documents surveys and obsolete items. 2.3 Conducts random inspection of cargo loaded on UNRWA trucks to ensure cargo compliance with load notes. 2.4 Ensures the quality and quantity of supplies being transported within the field. 2.5 Ensures compliance with the agency’s standards of safety and security of goods. 2.6 Monitors fuel consumption arranges monthly inspection and stock control. 3 Survey and disposal 3.1 Ensures the appropriate write-off and disposal of any supplies by destruction, sale, or conversion in accordance with the disposal value. 3.2 Ensures that all appropriate destruction certificates, bills of sale, or load notes are posted in the ERP 3.3 Acts as a member of the destruction committee as required. 4 Using the ERP system, prepares reports related to his/her functions and keeps the HFPLO informed of any outstanding, unresolved or delayed matters. 5 Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Coping with Pressure and Setbacks Desirable Qualifications : 1 Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP). 2 Certified Logistics Associate (CLA). 3 Material Handling Certifications. 4 ISO 9001 or Quality Control Certification. 5 Membership in an acknowledged quality assurance, audit, or logistics institute. 6 An understanding of proprietary asset & inventory management computer applications. 7 An understanding of institutional asset & inventory management processes, policies, and procedures. 8 Familiarity with shipping documentation, practices, and procedures. 9 An understanding of stock survey & disposal procedures. 10 an ability to examine operations and procedures to assist in formulating policy guidelines and the development and implementation new strategies and procedures. Other Information: Possession of a valid driving license.
Education:University degree in quality assurance, inventory or audit management discipline, business administration or related field and additional course work or training in asset and inventory management.

Special Notice:The appointment against this position is limited to the UNRWA - other. Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. Grade and Salary: Grade 14 Monthly basic salary USD 1490.30, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate (The salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule.) Other benefits: Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits: - 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service. - 14 weeks of Maternity Leave. - 2 weeks paternity leave. This vacancy notice is open to internal candidates only.
