How can you make a difference?
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does—in programmes, advocacy and operations. Schools are trusted public spaces across island communities and are increasingly central to UNICEF Maldives’ efforts to strengthen climate-resilient education systems and support children and young people as agents of climate action.
UNICEF Maldives has introduced and expanded climate change resilience programming under its Country Programme, with a growing focus on climate education, youth-led climate advocacy, systems strengthening, evidence generation, and climate finance mobilization. The portfolio includes work linked to climate-resilient schools, youth engagement in climate policy processes, climate literacy, green skills, school preparedness, and the development of climate finance proposals in partnership with the Government of Maldives and relevant national institutions.
