The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is responding to its 17th Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, confirmed in May 2026 and affecting Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces. The situation remains complex and evolving, with transmission occurring in both community and health-care settings. Response efforts are led by national authorities in a context shaped by health system limitations, logistical constraints, insecurity, displacement, and diverse community perceptions influencing health-seeking behaviors.UNICEF supports the Government through a multi-sectoral approach, focusing on community engagement, surveillance, infection prevention, and the continuity of essential services for vulnerable populations.This context requires strong coordination, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity to support effective and equitable response efforts, particularly for children and at-risk communities.
How can you make a difference?
You report to the Supply and Logistics Manager and are responsible for managing the supply chains and logistics components of the operations, including emergency responses. The logistics operations include planning, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport and distribution, as well as performance management. You manage, in collaboration with programmes sections, the operational aspects of supply interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children. You provide technical and advisory support to governments, national systems and partners on logistics management. Considering the recurring and multiple emergencies experienced in the country and supported by the Country Office, the logistics function plays a central role in emergency preparedness and response.

Minimum requirements:
- Education:Advanced University Degree in Supply Chain Management, Transport and Logistics.
- Work Experience:A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in supply chain, transport and logistics and/or other directly related technical fields is required. Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
- Skills:Technical and Non-Technical.
- Language Requirements:Fluency in French and English is required.
- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) or a local language
- emergency response experience, health supply chain experience, humanitarian operations experience, Ebola response logistics experience
- Emergency work experience and health supply chain management experience are strong advantages
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
