## HEAVY VEHICLE OPERATOR, Wau, Sudan

Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Movement Control and Distribution Unit of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), duty station Wau. The incumbent will report directly to the Movement Control Assistant or their designate.
Under the supervision and general guidance of a more senior Movement Control Assistant, the incumbent will perform the following functions:
- Operates Trucks and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) transporting cargo, passengers and hazardous goods, such as delivery of sea containers within the mission's area of operation
- Operate Heavy Material Handling Equipment and Forklift to offload and load sea containers and other heavy items/supplies.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on heavy vehicles and equipment before commencing to drive or operate and carry out basic repairs in the event of a breakdown while on duty in remote areas.
- Drive heavy recovery trucks to recover breakdown vehicles.
- Check to ensure all relevant vehicle documents such as maintenance record cards, insurance, car log, tools and equipment issued to the vehicles are valid and in place.
- Arrange washing and cleaning of the vehicles and equipment after use.
- Carry out daily inspection, minor repairs and maintenance on light, medium and heavy vehicles, including forklifts and other heavy machinery.
- Performs VIP and standby driver duties.
- Perform other duties as required.

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification
Possession of valid official national driving/operator license (category C) is required (copy must be submitted together with the application). Safe Technical or vocational diploma or certificate or equivalent on automotive industry is desirable.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in heavy Vehicle/Truck driving is required. Experience in vehicle repair and maintenance is desirable. Experience operating Material Handling Equipment include FX-Extra heavy forklift 28 Tones is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Arabic is desirable. Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
- This position is temporarily available 364 days. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
- This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules.
