Peace, justice and strong institutions Volunteer category:Specialist UCoS from Apr2026 Work schedule:Full-time Number of Assignments:1 Mission and objectives: - MONUSCO/MONUC was established in 1999 under the auspices of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). SCR 2277 (2016) requests MONUSCO to support efforts of the Government of DRC towards the protection of civilians, through a comprehensive approach involving all components of MONUSCO, including through reduction of the threat posed by Congolese and foreign armed groups and of violence against civilians, including sexual and gender-based violence and violence against children to a level that can be effectively managed by the Congolese justice and security institutions; and to support Stabilization through the establishment of functional, professional, and accountable state institutions, including security and judicial institutions. The project aims at a better understanding of the most serious violations of human rights law and international humanitarian law in DRC and supports the leadership of the Mission through informed policy and decision making on future vetting of security forces through risk assessment and mitigation, joint planning for MONUSCO operations, as well as advocacy efforts. - Assignment is non-family (GOMA). - Until 30 June 2027, with possible 12-months extension, this pending renewal of mandate - Under the direct supervision of the Officer-in-Charge (OIC ) Chief, Rations Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - - Develop and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC ) plans, procedures, inspection and test plans, and checklists; - - Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and contractual requirements. - - Monitor suppliers, contractors, warehouses, and food storage conditions. - - Conduct regular inspections, quality audits, and site assessments; - - Review and verify the quality of materials, equipment, workmanship, and completed works. - - Identify, document, and follow up on non-conformities and quality deficiencies. - - Coordinate corrective and preventive actions and verify their effective closure. - - Review quality-related documentation, inspection reports, test results, and certificates. - - Maintain comprehensive QA/QC records and ensure proper document control. - - Prepare periodic quality reports and communicate quality performance to management. - - Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other stakeholders on quality-related matters. - - Support investigations into quality failures and recommend appropriate improvement measures. - - Ensure compliance with applicable national and international quality standards and health, safety, and environmental requirements. - - Promote continuous improvement and adherence to the organization's quality management system Required experience:3 years Nationality:Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment. Assignment requirements - English, Level: Fluent, Required - French, Level: Working knowledge, Desirable Required education level: - Bachelor's degree in food safety and quality assurance, food microbiology, nutrition or related disciplines is required. - Certification as auditor of ISO 22000:2018 or certificate in HACCP is desirable Competencies and values: - Planning and Organizing - Respect for Diversity Skills and experience: - A minimum of 3 years of experience in: - - Quality assurance/quality control, food inspection, food production, catering, or food/rations supply, food safety and hygiene management systems, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP ) and good hygiene/food manufacturing practices; - - Preparing quality-control reports, inspection reports, non-conformity reports, and corrective action plans; - - Working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Umoja, is desirable. - - Experience working in United Nations (UN ) field missions, UN agencies, international organizations, or humanitarian operations would be an advantage. Area(s) of expertise: - Emergency preparedness, crisis response, Logistics, procurement, commodities, Safety and security - Light Vehicle (LV) Required
