Organizational Setting and Reporting

UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference for one of the most vulnerable communities in the world, UNRWA would like to hear from you. - Justification for use: Jordan Field Office needs to hire one additional Senior Finance Assistant to handle the workload related to Parallel Education Fund (PEP) across the Finance Department sections, the role of Senior Finance Assistant is essential to provide sustained support to PEP and to comply with DIOS. - Title of Supervisor: The incumbent of this post reports to the Finance Officer - General Accounts, A16. - Title of Supervisee/s: The incumbent may directly supervise Finance Assistant - General Accounts, A10 (as applicable). - Working conditions: Office environment with access to telephone, PC and other automation equipment, internet, and intranet. Some local travel may be required.
- Follows up and acts on transactions and activities related to the Parallel Education Programme (PEP) and the alignment with Programme Budget (PB) or any other Projects or initiatives, as instructed by his/her supervisor, and ensures they are in line with set work plans, instructions, and guidance.
- Perform all accounting transactions as requested by the supervisor, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, fees, and reconciliations between ERP system (REACH) and the Student Registration System (SRS).
- Maintains all records related to the Parallel Education Programme (PEP), categorizes based on general and subsidiary ledgers; drafts required documents and correspondence related to his/her functions.
- Assists the supervisor in preparing monthly/quarterly review of Parallel Education Programme (PEP) ledgers; coordinates with stakeholders' departments as requested.
- Acts as a focal point for the Parallel Education Programme (PEP) within JFO's financial system and reporting.
- Conducts transactions related to the (PEP) accounting in UNRWA's financial system and coordinates as needed with TVET & FESA.
- Assists the supervisor in ensuring compliance with financial processes and financial records with UNRWA financial policies, regulations, and rules; provides input and testing for any business process improvement and follows up on audit recommendations related to PEP.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Job - Specific Qualification

- You are required to have at least two years’ experience in accounting or finance work, involving working experience with computerized finance systems.
- You are required to have an experience and professional knowledge in the usage of computer applications such as Excel and Access.
- You are required to have a first university degree from an accredited educational institution in accountancy or finance.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Arabic is desirable. The table below shows the minimum required level for each skill in these languages, according to the UN Language Framework (please consult https://languages.un.org for details).

The appointment against this position is limited to the UNRWA - Finance - Jordan. The Limited Duration Contract applies to external candidates and UNRWA internal candidates on LDC. Grade & Salary: LDC- Band E monthly basic salary ranges JOD 897.00 , The salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule.
