## ASSOCIATE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, New York, United States - Office:ICDDR,B in New York, USA Organizational Setting and Reporting This position is located in the United Nations Youth Office. The Associate Communications Officer reports to the Chief of Section, Partnerships, Advocacy, and Communications and works under overall guidance by the Chief of Staff and the Assistant Secretary-General on Youth Affairs. The Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications Section plays a key role in bringing the United Nations closer to young people, and young people closer to the United Nations while forging innovative partnerships and initiatives to enhance the engagement of youth in the work of the Organization and lead state-of-the-art communications efforts on youth issues. The Associate Communications Officer specialising in Partnerships and Campaigns is responsible for supporting the development and the execution of communication strategies to promote and help deliver on the organization's objectives and outcomes. The incumbent will assist in devising strategic communication plans and campaigns, crafting compelling and credible content, and deploying tactics across various channels to engage audiences effectively and in an inclusive manner, promote brand recognition, and harmonize efforts with organizational objectives. Tasks include supporting efforts to build strong and enduring relationships with key partners and stakeholders to exploit joint communication opportunities, amplify campaigns and content, coordinate messaging across multiple platforms and evaluate and report on the effectiveness and outcomes of communication efforts. 1. Contribute to the development of campaign strategies to raise awareness among target audiences, mobilize support and resources in line with the organization’s policies and regulations, and drive action in support of the UN’s objectives and initiatives. 2. Contribute to the collaboration with internal teams and external partners to define campaign goals, target audiences, messaging strategies, narratives and messaging, and key performance indicators (KPIs). 3. Assist in the development of creative campaign concepts, content, and materials, including digital and print assets, social media posts, email communications, and multimedia content. 4. Contribute to the management of all aspects of campaign implementation, including timeline development, budgeting, resource planning, and coordination with external vendors or partners. 5. Assist in ensuring that all communication and campaign materials effectively convey the impact of the organization's work and comply with the organization's standards and branding. 6. Contribute to promoting campaigns, events and collaboration with stakeholders by organising media engagement and coverage. 7. Support the building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential partners that can help amplify the organization’s advocacy messages at local, national, regional, and/or international levels. 8. Support coordination with partners to plan and execute joint initiatives, events, and campaigns that drive collective impact and achieve shared objectives. 9. Assist in monitoring and evaluating campaign performance, providing regular reports and insights to inform future strategies and initiatives. 10. Keep abreast of the latest trends in communications and maintain expertise in relevant and emerging technologies. 11. Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and discreet handling of sensitive information in compliance with the UN data privacy, security requirements, and standards. 12. Monitor, analyse, and report on communications approaches, activities and strategies to assess their performance and effectiveness. 13. Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. - Professionalism Ability to develop and implement communications strategies. Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Job - Specific Qualification A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, or other relevant areas is required. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Either FrenchorArabicorChinese (Mandarin)orSpanishorRussian is desirable.
