## Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant - Programme Support Office, Damascus - Organization:UNRWA - United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East - Office:UNRWA Damascus Organizational Setting and Reporting UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions. The incumbent reports to Monitoring and Evaluation Officer In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: 1- Follows up with Programme departments to ensure completion of data collection tools and clarifies missing or inconsistent information. 2- Supports research activities related to the effectiveness of interventions including the development of questionnaires and surveys. 3- Contributes to the design of appropriate indicators, targets and benchmarks to be used to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of SFO programmes, as assigned by the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. 4- Reviews and analyzes data and writes summary reports based on monitoring and evaluation results. 5- Assists in coordinating logistical arrangements for meetings or surveys related to monitoring activities, including third-party monitoring. 6- Prepares field monitoring tools and leads on drafting monitoring findings following field monitoring visit. 7- Supports the preparation of summary tables, charts or visuals to facilitate the interpretation of results and trends. 8- Supports the Projects Officers in the Programme Support Office, as assigned by the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, in preparing accurate data (incl. indicator achievements) for donor reports. 9- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. A “yes” answer doesn’t necessarily lead to exclusion from future work at UNRWA, yet misrepresentation in providing accurate/complete info can lead to disqualification/termination of appointment, if hired. At least four years relevant work experience in planning processes, research or monitoring and evaluation, preferably at an international organization and/or UN Agency. is required . English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, EnglishandArabic are required. Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview. - Contract Type: Limited Duration Contract for 6 months renewable appointment subject to funding availability, satisfactory performance and continuing need. - Grade: Band D Monthly basic salary: 638.70 USD. The salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Other benefits include: - Dependency allowances (if applicable). - 30 days of Annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract where less than one year.
