Programme Manager, Project Management Unit (PMU)
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), an agency of the Aga Khan
Development Network (AKDN), is a private, non-denominational,
international development agency established in 1967. It seeks
sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger,
illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of
rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor regions,
primarily in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Its main areas of
focus are Education & ECD, Health & Nutrition, Rural
Development, Work & Enterprise, Civil Society, Agriculture
& Food Security and Climate Change & Resilience. The Aga
Khan Foundation, Pakistan (AKF(P)) is seeking high calibre
professional for the following position to be based in Islamabad,
Pakistan and frequent travel to project areas/sites.
- Provide overall leadership and technical guidance to the
PMU.
- Facilitating partners in developing and managing the project
work plan and budgets.
- Facilitating and overseeing the procurement and contracting
process
- Monitoring the project progress and performance.
- Ensuring compliance with all donor and government
requirements.
- Representing the project at external stakeholders level.
- Preparing and submitting regular reports to the donor and
government.
- Developing and implementing innovative and sustainable
renewable energy, enterprise development and Habitat improvement
solutions
- Identifying and promoting opportunities for community
participation in the project.
- Actively participating in sector dialogue on energy
transitions, renewable energy integration, local and regional power
grid development, and power market, governance, institutional and
other policy reforms in GB power sector with the client and other
stakeholders/development partners.
- Contributing to designing and/or executing technical assistance
and capacity building interventions to support partners in
improving the sustainability of Habitat improvement, Enterprise
development around clean energy, electricity supply and strengthen
institutional capacity towards energy transitions, market reforms,
improved planning and execution, and providing reliable and
affordable access to power.
- Actively participate in sector dialogue on energy transitions,
renewable energy integration, power grid development, and power
market, governance, institutional and other policy reforms in
Pakistan’s power sector with the client and other
stakeholders/development partners.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's degree in Engineering (electrical/mechanical) with
business Administration/Social Sciences/Natural Resources
Management qualification will be an added advantage. Engineering
qualification should preferably with specialization in renewable
energy and/or energy efficiency from a reputable university
preferably foreign university of good repute.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience of Project Management
and donor-funded renewable energy and nature-based solution
projects for community infrastructure development, policy
formulation, productive use of renewable energy technologies,
Habitat Improvement/protection, business development around clean
energy and socio-economic development of underserved and
underdeveloped areas.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, programme management, field
work, communication, strategy, programme design, and teamwork.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to gender and
diversity.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of
management.
