## Head Health Centre B - Health Programme, West Bank - Organization:UNRWA - United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East - Country:occupied Palestinian territory - Office:UNRWA in Gaza, occupied Palestinian territory Organizational Setting and Reporting UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions. Supervisor: The incumbent reports to the Area Health Officer. Supervisees: The incumbent of this post directly supervises number of professional and general services staff members and/or other personnel in the assigned health centre. 1 Provides general outpatient services and other special services, including maternal and child health, control of non-communicable diseases as well as for hospital referrals; 2 Performs medical examination of applicants for special hardship assistance, newly recruited staff, periodic medical examination of existing staff and extension beyond retirement; participates in medical boards and ratifies sick leaves for staff; 3 Manages the health centre to which he/she is assigned, including organization of services, personnel supervision, supply management and reporting; 4 Supervises the work of medical, nursing and para-medical staff in the health centre to which he/she is assigned and evaluates their performance; 5 Maintains relationships with local community and local authorities; 6 Ensures availability of medicine and medical supplies in terms of quantity, quality and validity; oversees ordering and receipt of these items; raises survey reports for items which are not operational or expired and ensures the destruction process; 7 Participates in on-the-job and in-service training of other staff in accordance with the approved plans; 8 Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. In Addition: Functional Competencies: Relating and Networking Applying Technical Expertise Analyzing Coping with Pressure and Setbacks Leading and Supervising - Required academic qualifications A medical degree from an accredited educational institution including an internship of at least twelve-month duration. - Professional qualifications A valid license to practice medicine in the country of duty station (where applicable). - Desirable qualifications: Post-graduate degree or diploma in public health, family health or other related discipline Job - Specific Qualification Indicate your current involvement in any outside activities, as it is required. Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview The appointment against this position is limited to the UNRWA - Programme Health - West Bank. Condition of Services: -contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. -Grade and Salary: Grade and Salary: Grade HL07 Monthly basic salary USD 2,509.10, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate. (The salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule.) -Other benefits: Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits: - 2 days of sick leave for each completed month of service. - 14 weeks of Maternity Leave. - 2 weeks paternity leave. This vacancy notice is open to internal candidates only.
